These are some of the outstanding coaches who have been on a previous IST staff or will be part of our 2003 tours. We have selected a great staff. You will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and workouts from these fine coaches. Each trip will have a coach from each event area.

SPRINTS / HURDLES / JUMPS

ROGER BOWEN, currently the Athletic Director and track coach as Miami East HS in Casstown, OHIO, coached for 24 years on the collegiate level, including Meramec Community College in St. Louis, the University of Kansas, Ohio State and Nevada-Reno. Roger was fortunate to coach several NCAA champions and work with numerous Olympians. Among them are vaulter Scott Huffman (US record), sprinter Butch Reynolds (World record), and Brandon Rock (National Champion). In 1974 he was named Junior College Coach of the Year and in 1993 NCAA Region VII Outdoor Coach of the Year.

LINDORF BLAKELY has been success personified during his 33 years of coaching at Richardson, TEXAS, high school. His hurdlers have strung together 15-straight District Meet victories at the 110-meter distance and another dozen at 300 meters. Though Coach Blakely is a top-notch hurdle technician, he hasn't ignored the other events during his 10-years as head coach -- his teams have won 4 District trophies for first place and 4 for runner-up. A couple of his athletes have national and international credentials: Travis Livingston was a 2-time Big 8 hurdle champion at Kansas State and Teddy Sondota was a Big West hurdle champ at North Texas and a Kenyan Olympian in the decathlon. He is a very pro-active coach who employs the "love" factor in coaching -- the better his athletes do, the more he loves them.

ERIC STREETER, from Matthews, NORTH CAROLINA, is one of the finest coaches in the SE United States. The Charlotte Observer has named him Coach of the Year in several different categories. His sterling resume includes 65 North Carolina State Champions, 24 Southeastern Regional Champs, 19 All-Americans and 3 National Champions. Coach Streeter will have a lot to share with his athletes!

KIRVEN JACKSON is a USA Track and Field Level II coach and a Level I instructor. He has coached at High Schools in Xenia and Cincinnati, Ohio. His teams have won many titles. Forty-two of his student-athletes have won track scholarships. Two years ago, as Head Coach at Muskingum College, five of his student-athletes were named to the All-American Academic Track and Field team. Coach Jackson is currently coaching privately. He has two 2004 Olympic hopefuls and two high school athletes. He is also an award-winning columnist with the Gannett News Service. Sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers will learn a lot from Kirven Jackson! The 2003 tour will be Kirven's fifth with IST.

RANDY ADAIR has been coaching track and field for 26 years. He spent the last 11 years building his program at Mesquite High School in Mesquite into one of the best programs in the state of TEXAS. While at Mesquite High Coach Adair was named "Coach of the Year" 5 times. After coaching for IST in Europe in 2001, Coach Adair accepted a position at national track and field powerhouse Dallas Skyline High School. Skyline is home to 200 and 400 meter world record holder Michael Johnson. This year his girls team took state. Leading the way to this victory was their 4X400 relay, which ran the fastest high school times ever in the state of Texas. In addition to lecturing at national track and field clinics, Coach Adair is on the Texas High School Coaches Association Track and Field Advisory Committee and also serves on the summer track and field camp staff at the University of Arkansas. Our hurdlers, sprinters and jumpers are fortunate to have Randy Adair as one of their coaches.

His girlsí track teams have placed in the top three at the state meet 12 of the last 13 years. His boys teams have placed among the top 5 at state cross country 12 of 13 years.

DOUG ROBINSON has coached at Poteet High School in Mesquite, TEXAS for the past 13 years. He is a Level 1 USATF coach who has led his teams to 3 State, 8 Regional and 17 District championships. Doug is a very versatile coach who has produced state medalists in the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, shot put, discus, pole vault and high jump.
